Holotype (unique): USNM 688. •Synonym of Sarda chilensis (Cuvier 1832) -- (Mecklenburg et al. 2002:808 [ref. 25968]). •Synonym of Sarda chiliensis (Cuvier 1832), but a valid subspecies lineolata (Girard 1858) -- (Collette & Chao 1975:601 [ref. 5573], Collette & Nauen 1983:51 [ref. 5375], McAllister 1990:179 [ref. 14674], Collette et al. 2001:3 [ref. 25629], Collette 2003:7 [ref. 27312], Del Moral-Flores et al. 2016:611 [ref. 34923], Randall et al. 2019:38 [ref. 36852], Collette & Graves 2019:106 [ref. 37341]). Current status: Synonym of Sarda chiliensis (Cuvier 1832). Scombridae: Scombrinae. Distribution: Northeast Pacific [this subspecies]: Alaska (U.S.A.) south to southern tip of Baja California (Mexico), including Revillagigedo Islands (Mexico); straying to Hawaiian Islands (U.S.A.). Habitat: marine.
