cuneiceps, Siphamia Whitley [G. P.] 1941:29, Fig. 20 [Australian Zoologist v. 10 (pt 1); ref. 4701] Off Fraser Island, 24°52'S, 152°48'E, Queensland, Australia. Holotype: AMS IB.1016 (largest). Paratypes: AMS IB.1016 (2 of 3). The correct spelling is cuneiceps. •Valid as Siphamia cuneiceps Whitley 1941 -- (Paxton et al. 1989:557 [ref. 12442] as cuniceps, Allen 1999:2608 [ref. 24812] as cuniceps, Johnson 1999:733 [ref. 25471] as cuniceps, Hutchins 2001:32 [ref. 25847], Allen et al. 2006:1108 [ref. 29004], Gon & Allen 2012:31 [ref. 31960], Larson et al. 2013:114 [ref. 32988], Mabuchi et al. 2014:201 [ref. 33426], Fraser & Prokofiev 2016:229 [ref. 34742], Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:142 [ref. 36965]). Current status: Valid as Siphamia cuneiceps Whitley 1941. Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, southwestern Pacific: Western Australia east to Queensland (tropical Australia). Habitat: marine.
