Syntypes: MCZ 28546 (2). •Valid as Syacium maculiferum (Garman 1899) -- (Murakami & Amaoka 1992:74 [ref. 19779], Hensley in Fischer et al. 1995:1378 [ref. 22830], van der Heiden & Mitchell 1998:753 [ref. 23424], Grove et al. 2022:18 [ref. 41326]). Current status: Valid as Syacium maculiferum (Garman 1899). Cyclopsettidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Cocos Island (Costa Rica) and Galapagos Islands (Ecuador). IUCN (2021): Data Deficient.
