Based on style ("nom. sp. nov." instead of "sp. nov.") and the footnote on p. 825, this name is regarded as a replacement name for Ancylopsetta quadrocellata Gill 1864, secondarily preoccupied by Platessa quadrocellata Storer 1847 ("which is also a species of Paralichthys"). The substitute name is not in use and the junior homonym is not to be rejected on grounds of that replacement [ICZN Art. 59.3].
