Paralectotypes: SMF 2941 (1, dry), 5247 (1). Lectotype established by Dor 1984:277 [ref. 29757] if not designated earlier. •Valid as Sufflamen albicaudatus [correct is apparently Sufflamen albicaudatum] (Rüppell 1829) -- (Dor 1984:277 [ref. 29757], Goren & Dor 1994:73 [ref. 25356], Myers 1999:283 [ref. 23965]). •Might best be regarded as a subspecies of Sufflamen chrosopterus (Bloch & Schneider 1801) -- (Randall 1995:394 [ref. 22896], Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S123 [ref. 27377], Randall 2005:627 [ref. 28239], Matsuura 2014:7 [ref. 33576]). •Valid as Sufflamen albicaudatum (Rüppell 1829) -- (DiBattista et al. 2015:22 [ref. 35706], Bogorodsky & Randall 2018:[7] 245 [ref. 36492], Golani & Fricke 2018:178 [ref. 36273]). Current status: Valid as Sufflamen albicaudatum (Rüppell 1829). Balistidae. Distribution: Red Sea, northwestern Indian Ocean: Gulf of Oman to Persian Gulf. Habitat: marine.
