altipinnis, Ancylodon Steindachner [F.] 1866:19 [Anzeiger der Kaiserlichen Akademie der Wissenschaften, Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftlichen Classe v. 3; ref. 21713] West coast of South America. Holotype (unique): NMW 73479. Species first described in the abstract above, later illustrated and described in more detail in Steindachner 1866 [ref. 14059], p. 209 [p. 2 of separate], Pl. 1 (fig. 3); also appeared in English in Steindachner 1866:311 [ref. 21712]. •Synonym of Isopisthus remifer Jordan & Gilbert 1882 -- (Chao in Fischer et al. 1995:1466 [ref. 22830]). •Valid as Isopisthus altipinnis (Steindachner 1866) -- (Pequeño 1989:61 [ref. 14125], Parenti 2020:19 [ref. 37439], Siccha-Ramirez et al. 2023:391 [ref. 40816]). Current status: Valid as Isopisthus altipinnis (Steindachner 1866). Sciaenidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Baja California (Mexico) south to Chile. Habitat: brackish, marine.
