amazonum, Acestra Günther [A.] 1864:261 [Catalogue of the fishes in the British Museum v. 5; ref. 1974] Amazon River at Santarém, Pará State, Brazil. Holotype (unique): BMNH 1856.3.25.22. Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:237 [ref. 29155]. The correct spelling of this species is amazonum, a noun that does not decline (see note under Curimatus amazonum). •Valid as Farlowella amazona (Günther 1864) -- (Isbrücker 1980:97 [ref. 2303], Ortega & Vari 1986:17 [ref. 9708], Burgess 1989:440 [ref. 12860], Retzer & Page 1997:69 [ref. 23176], Britski et al. 1999:128 [ref. 24147], Isbrücker 2001:25, 27 [ref. 25653], Isbrücker 2002:15 [ref. 27178], Ferraris in Reis et al. 2003:332 [ref. 27061], López et al. 2003:45 [ref. 27366], Ferraris 2007:237 [ref. 29155], Ballen & Mojica 2014:140 [ref. 33176], Ballen et al. 2016:[6] [ref. 34813], Ballen et al. 2016:332 [ref. 34915], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:76 [ref. 35633]). •Valid as Farlowella amazonum (Günther 1864) -- (Azpelicueta & Koerber 2014:97 [ref. 33832] the correct spelling, Marajó et al. 2018:2 [ref. 36366] as "cf. amazonum", Terán et al. 2019:6 [ref. 36818]). Current status: Valid as Farlowella amazonum (Günther 1864). Loricariidae: Loricariinae. Distribution: Amazon and Tocantins River basins: Brazil and Colombia. Habitat: freshwater.
