Holotype: BMNH 1939.5.24.610-612 (352-mm spec.). Paratypes: BMNH 1939.5.24.610-612 (2 of 3). •Valid as Congriscus maldivensis (Norman 1939) -- (Adam et al. 1998:8 [ref. 23610], Karmovskaya 2004:S9 [ref. 28053], Kurogi et al. 2015:[6] 244 [ref. 34038], Chow et al. 2016:2209 [ref. 34808], Fricke et al. 2018:50 [ref. 35805], Yanagimoto et al. 2020:[2] [ref. 37970], Mochizuki et al. 2022:147 [ref. 39930]). Current status: Valid as Congriscus maldivensis (Norman 1939). Congridae: Congrinae. Distribution: Indo-Werst Pacific: Madagascar and Maldives east to northern Philippines; leptocephali found north to southern Japan. Habitat: marine.
