See nomenclatural comments in Lucena & Lucinda in Reis et al. 2003:155-156 [ref. 27061]; neotype not regarded as valid by them, but that is probably incorrect since the designation was in 1959 and does not come under the 1999 code. Distribution: South America: Amazon, Tocantins, Xingu and Tapajós River basins (Brazil) and Tapanahony River drainage (Suriname). Habitat: freshwater.
