Type catalog: Gilbert 1998:237 [ref. 23395], Gilbert 2009:160 [ref. 30728]. •Synonym of Micropterus punctulatus (Rafinesque 1819), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Robison & Buchanan 1988:383 [ref. 23393], Gilbert 1998:237 [ref. 23395], Williams & Burgess 1999:90 [ref. 24029]). •Synonym of Micropterus punctulatus (Rafinesque 1819) -- (Boschung & Mayden 2004:468 [ref. 27995]). •Valid as Micropterus henshalli Hubbs & Bailey 1940 -- (Baker et al. 2008:58 [ref. 29784], Scharpf 2008:17 [ref. 30399], Page & Burr 2011:495 [ref. 31215], Bagley et al. 2011:348 [ref. 31509], Baker et al. 2013:379 [ref. 32561], Page et al. 2013:135 [ref. 32708], Kim et al. 2022:3 [ref. 39605]). Current status: Valid as Micropterus henshalli Hubbs & Bailey 1940. Centrarchidae: Lepominae. Distribution: Southeastern North America: Mobile Bay drainage (Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi, U.S.A.). Introduced elsewhere. Habitat: freshwater.
