An unused senior synonym (Williams & Bunkley-Williams, 2009); not used as valid after 1899, therefore reversal of priority (in accordance with ICZN Art. 23.9.1) in favor of Parastromateus niger (Bloch 1795), ICZN Case 3543. •Not a Coryphaena, but a senior synonym of Parastromateus niger (Bloch 1795) -- (Williams & Bunkley-Williams 2009:557 [ref. 30573]). Current status: Synonym of Parastromateus niger (Bloch 1795). Carangidae: Caranginae. Habitat: brackish, marine.
