Lectotype: BMNH 1894.1.20.16. Paralectotypes: BMNH 1894.1.20.17 (1). Lectotype selected by Lim & Kottelat 1995:364 [ref. 21592]. Original genus should have been spelled Tetraodon. •Synonym of Tetraodon lorteti (Tirant 1885) -- (Dekkers 1975:97 [ref. 7417]). •Synonym of Carinotetraodon lorteti (Tirant 1885) -- (Kottelat et al. 1993:173 [ref. 23448], Lim & Kottelat 1995:363 [ref. 21592]). •Valid as Carinotetraodon borneensis (Regan 1903) -- (Tan 1999:351 [ref. 24234], Ebert 2001:91 [ref. 25494], Parenti & Lim 2005:196 [ref. 28285], Britz et al. 2012:105 [ref. 32346], Kottelat 2013:474 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Valid as Carinotetraodon borneensis (Regan 1903). Tetraodontidae. Distribution: Malaysia. Habitat: freshwater.
