Holotype (unique): whereabouts unknown. Type catalog: Bauchot et al. 1991:55 [ref. 19958]. Based on 'Gobius alepidotus, corpore nudo, griseo, fasciis septem pallidis' in manuscript by Bosc (Louis-Augustin Bosc d'Antic, 1759-1828, French naturalist).
