Lectotype: BMNH 1867.10.8.40. Paralectotypes: BMNH 1867.12.26.16 (1). Type catalog: Anderson 2018:14 [ref. 36146]. Described in the genus Anthias but then Günther stated that this species may be regarded as the type of a distinct generic division (Holanthias), distinguished from Anthias by its convex caudal fin; this seems to be covered by Art. 11.9.3.6 (and 15.1 and 51.3.3), and the original genus should be regarded as Anthias. Current status: Valid as Holanthias fronticinctus (Günther 1868). Anthiadidae. Distribution: Southern central Atlantic: Bonaparte seamont (130 km west of Saint Helena), Saint Helena, Ascension Island, Grattan seamount (260 km southeast of Ascension Island). Habitat: marine.
