Appeared first as above, then in Sykes 1839:61 [ref. 4306]; more complete treatment in Sykes 1841:374, Pl. 66 (fig. 1) [ref. 18868]. •Incorrectly treated as a synonym of Rita pavimentatus Valenciennes 1840 -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:577 [ref. 20764] with wrong date, Menon 1999:197 [ref. 24904]). •Valid as Rita gogra (Sykes 1839) -- (Burgess 1989:66 [ref. 12860], Mo 1991:142 [ref. 19952], Ferraris 1999:21 [ref. 23839], Ng 2004:1 [ref. 27758], Jayaram 2006:15 [ref. 28762], Ferraris 2007:105 [ref. 29155], Lal et al. 2017:80 [ref. 34862], Grant 2020:24 [ref. 38010]). Current status: Valid as Rita gogra (Sykes 1839). Ritidae. Distribution: South Asia: Krishna, Godavari and Narmada River basins (India). Habitat: freshwater.
