Type catalog: Nijssen et al. 1982:10 [ref. 19236]. Spelled two ways originally: heijnigi and heynigi (p. 47) -- the latter correctly formed; technical first reviser not researched. •Valid as Hemerorhinus heyningi (Weber 1913) -- (McCosker 1977:67 [ref. 6836], Smith & McCosker 1999:1668 [ref. 24715], Allen & Erdmann 2012:105 [ref. 31980], Allen & Erdmann 2024:115 [ref. 40796]). Current status: Valid as Hemerorhinus heyningi (Weber 1913). Ophichthidae: Ophichthinae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Komodo and Cenderawasih Bay, West Papua (Indonesia). Habitat: marine.
