Lectotype selecteds by Iwatsuki, et al. 2007:39 [ref. 29100]. •Valid as Dentex hypselosomus Bleeker 1854 -- (Iwatsuki et al. 2007:34 [ref. 29100] replacing Chrysophrys tumifrons Temminck & Schlegel 1843, Motomura et al. 2010:127 [ref. 31256], Shinohara et al. 2014:262 [ref. 33330], Iwatsuki et al. 2015:114 [ref. 33802], Parenti 2019:60 [ref. 36892], Kim et al. 2020:135 [ref. 39118], Sonoyama et al. 2020:71 [ref. 37637], Mochizuki et al. 2021:50 [ref. 38974]). Current status: Valid as Dentex hypselosomus Bleeker 1854. Sparidae. Distribution: Northwestern Pacific: China and Taiwan north to southern Korea and Japan. Habitat: marine.
