Endemic to Argentina according to López et al. 2002:60 [ref. 26808]. •Genus uncertain -- (Bockmann & Miquelarena 2008:46 [ref. 29643]). •Valid as Rhamdella jenynsii (Günther 1864) -- (Burgess 1989:278 [ref. 12860], Miquelarena & Menni 1999:207 [ref. 24223], López et al. 2002:60 [ref. 26808], Bockmann & Guazzelli in Reis et al. 2003:422 [ref. 27061], López et al. 2003:63 [ref. 27366], Menni 2004:83 [ref. 28131] as jenynsi, Ferraris 2007:196 [ref. 29155], Litz & Koerber 2014:21 [ref. 33622], Mirande & Koerber 2015:34 [ref. 35117] with doubts, Nión et al. 2016:33 [ref. 35565]). Current status: Valid as Rhamdella jenynsii (Günther 1864). Heptapteridae: Rhamdiinae. Distribution: Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil; ?Argentina and Uruguay. Habitat: freshwater.
