Holotype (unique): MNHN A-2208. Type catalog: Bertin 1940:286 [ref. 293], Whitehead & Bauchot 1986:13 [ref. 9739], Hata & Motomura 2019:[2] [ref. 37199]. See also Clupanodon jussieu Lacepède 1803. •Probably the same as Sardinella jussieu (Lacepède 1803) -- (see Fricke 1999:75 [ref. 24106], Stern et al. 2016:18 [ref. 34733]). •Valid as Sardinella jussieui (Valenciennes 1847) -- (Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S96 [ref. 27377], Hata & Motomura 2019:[2] [ref. 37199], Hata & Motomura 2021:395 [ref. 38334], Anderson 2022:149 [ref. 39690]). Current status: Valid as Sardinella jussieui (Valenciennes 1847). Dorosomatidae. Distribution: Indian Ocean: Madagascar and Mascarenes (La Réunion, Mauritius, Rodrigues); India and Sri Lanka. Habitat: marine.
