leopardus, Corydoras Myers [G. S.] 1933:188 [The Aquarium, Philadelphia v. 2 (no. 8); ref. 19248] Brazil (probably from a Brazilian coastal river south of the Amazon River). Lectotype: USNM 93305. Paralectotypes: USNM 93306 (1). Type information: Ferraris & Vari 1992:14 [ref. 19771]. Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:119 [ref. 29155]. Lectotype selected by Nijssen & Isbrücker 1980:197 [ref. 6910]; Myers use of holotype/paratype in 1935 not acceptable as lectotype designation; paralectotype is a juvenile of Corydoras trilineatus according to Nijssen & Isbrücker. Appeared in more detail in Myers 1935:10 [ref. 3109]. Isbrücker 2001:228 [ref. 26805] gives a more detailed locality. •Valid as Corydoras leopardus Myers 1933 -- (Nijssen & Isbrücker 1980:197 [ref. 6910], Burgess 1989:366 [ref. 12860], Isbrücker 2001:228 [ref. 26805], Reis in Reis et al. 2003:299 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:119 [ref. 29155], Barriga Salazar 2014:111 [ref. 35745], Sarmiento et al. 2014:190 [ref. 35004], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:25 [ref. 39298]). •Valid as Brochis leopardus (Myers 1933) -- (Dias et al. 2024:25 [ref. 41219]). Current status: Valid as Brochis leopardus (Myers 1933). Callichthyidae: Corydoradinae. Distribution: South America: Amazon River basin (Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
