mcalpini, Lethotremus Fowler [H. W.] 1914:360, Fig. 1 [Proceedings of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia v. 66; ref. 14152] Greenland, probably Ulriks Bay. Holotype (unique): PU 2950. The name macalpini was introduced by Parr 1926:4 [ref. 26198] and is an incorrect subsequent spelling which was adopted by other workers, such as Lindberg & Legeza 1955:445 [ref. 2785]; the prevailing usage is macalpini and it could be treated as the correct original spelling on Art. 33.3.1, but see Mecklenburg & Sheiko 2003:5 [ref. 27295] who retain the spelling mcalpini on Art. 33.5 for cases in doubt. •Valid as Cyclopteropsis mcalpini (Fowler 1914) -- (Lindberg & Legeza 1955:445 [ref. 2785], Ueno 1970:178 [ref. 26199], Lindberg 1973:607 [ref. 7220], Robins & Ray 1986:285 [ref. 23100], Stein in Whitehead et al. 1986:1270 [ref. 13677], Robins et al. 1991:44 [ref. 14237], Parin et al. 2002:S106 [ref. 28300], Mecklenburg & Sheiko 2003:5 [ref. 27295], Nelson et al. 2004:123 [ref. 27807], Møller et al. 2010:55 [ref. 31169], Mecklenburg et al. 2011:127 [ref. 31212], Page et al. 2013:127 [ref. 32708], Parin et al. 2014:307 [ref. 33547], Voskoboinikova 2015:222 [ref. 33934] as macalpini, Afonso et al. 2016:56, 141 [ref. 36199], Dolgov et al. 2018:146 [ref. 41055], Mecklenburg et al. 2018:268 [ref. 36370] see remarks). •Valid as Eumicrotremus mcalpini (Fowler 1914) -- (Oku et al. 2017:55 [ref. 35060], Voskoboinikova & Orlovskaya 2020:22 [ref. 38114], Page et al. 2023:189 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Eumicrotremus mcalpini (Fowler 1914). Cyclopteridae: Eumicrotreminae. Distribution: Arctic Ocean; Barents Sea and northwestern Greenland. Habitat: marine.
