Current status: Valid as Thamnaconus melanoproctes (Boulenger 1889). Monacanthidae. Distribution: Northern Indian Ocean and western Pacific: Gulf of Aden to Gulf of Oman and Persian Gulf; Bali (Indonesia); Japan; northern Western Australia. Habitat: marine.
