Syntypes (?): BMNH 1863.12.4.82 (1, poor condition) Java, RMNH 6856 (3). Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:328 [ref. 29155]. Spelled micronemus on pp. 5-6, Pangasius smicronemus on p. 8; spelling on p. 8 regarded as a typesetting error. Also in Bleeker 1847:166 [ref. 314] as Pangasius micronemus. Derivation of name uncertain, most authors use micronema; note that Bleeker also named a species Pangasius macronema in 1858, unpublished -- see van Oijen et al. 2009:165 [ref. 30423]. •Mention -- (Kottelat 1984:815 [ref. 11440]). •Valid as Pangasius micronemus Bleeker 1846 [sometimes as micronema] -- (Roberts 1989:132 [ref. 6439] as micronema, Burgess 1989:105 [ref. 12860], Roberts & Vidthayanon 1991:129 [ref. 19239], Kottelat et al. 1993:73 [ref. 23448], Kottelat & Lim 1996:241 [ref. 23210], Zhu 1995:158 [ref. 25213], Rainboth 1996:156 [ref. 22772], Martin-Smith & Tan 1998:590 [ref. 23647], Pouyaud et al. 1999:249 [ref. 24245], Roberts 1999:110 [ref. 24422], Huang in Chu et al. 1999:101 [ref. 24534], Tan & Ng 1999:288 [ref. 24254], Pouyaud & Teugels 2000:198 [ref. 25066], Kottelat 2001:134 [ref. 25780], Pouyaud et al. 2002:245 [ref. 26653] as micronema, Gustiano 2003:69 [ref. 31337], Parenti & Lim 2005:191 [ref. 28285], Zhang et al. 2016:182 [ref. 34477], Fu et al. 2021:9571 [ref. 39347]). •Valid as Pseudolais micronemus (Bleeker 1846) -- (Ferraris 2007:328 [ref. 29155], Kottelat 2013:255 [ref. 32989], Sulaiman et al. 2018:34 [ref. 35802], Ng et al. 2019:531 [ref. 36606], Hasan et al. 2022:6035 [ref. 39888]). Current status: Valid as Pseudolais micronemus (Bleeker 1846). Pangasiidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Mekong and Hue rivers, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand; Malaya (Malaysia), Sumatra and Java (Indonesia), Borneo. Habitat: freshwater.
