miegii, Chondrostoma Steindachner [F.] 1866:15 [Anzeiger der Kaiserlichen Akademie der Wissenschaften, Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftlichen Classe v. 3; ref. 21709] Ebro River at Bilbao, Spain. Syntypes: NMW 52258 (18), 52393-414 (84 in 21 lots). Species first described in the abstract above, later described in more detail in Steindachner 1866:7 [ref. 18757]; also appeared in Steindachner 1866:202 [p. 5 of separate] [ref. 14058] and in Steindachner 1866:311 [ref. 21711]. Also in Steindachner 1866:5, 9 [ref. 18757]. •Synonym of Chondrostoma toxostoma (Vallot 1837), but a valid subspecies -- (Elvira 1987:133 [ref. 6743], Elvira 1991:149 [ref. 20036]). •Synonym of Chondrostoma toxostoma (Vallot 1837) -- (Kottelat 1997:56 [ref. 22952]). •Valid as Chondrostoma miegii Steindachner 1866 -- (Doadrio & Carmona 2003:30 [ref. 28132], Coelho et al. 2005:202 [ref. 28430], Gante et al. 2010:968 [ref. 35176], Çiftci et al. 2020:214 [ref. 37725]). •Valid as Parachondrostoma miegii (Steindachner 1866) -- (Robalo et al. 2007:371 [ref. 28878], Doadrio & Elvira 2007:296 [ref. 29510], Perea et al. 2010:15 [ref. 31802]). Current status: Valid as Parachondrostoma miegii (Steindachner 1866). Leuciscidae: Leuciscinae. Distribution: Southwestern Europe: Iberian Peninsula. Habitat: freshwater.
