nieuhofii, Triacanthus Bleeker [P.] 1851:26, Pl. 4 (fig. 9) [Verhandelingen van het Bataviaasch Genootschap van Kunsten en Wetenschappen. v. 24 (art. 11); ref. 16836] Siboga, west Sumatra, Indonesia. Holotype (unique): MNHN 0000-5873. Type catalog: Beaunier et al. 2009:294 [ref. 28887] with MNHN 0000-5873 as the holotype (see their discussion). Originally as Nieuhofii. Appeared as name only in Bleeker 1851:472 [ref. 16898] and 1852:415 [ref. 16827]. Also described as new in Bleeker 1852:459 [ref. 16828] based on 3 specimen. Current status: Valid as Triacanthus nieuhofii Bleeker 1851. Triacanthidae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Pakistan and India east to Indonesia north to South China Sea, south to northwestern Australia. Habitat: marine.
