Gobioides peruvianus of Clark 1936:391 [ref. 839] is an incorrect subsequent spelling. •Valid as Gobionellus peruanus (Steindachner 1880) -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:21 [ref. 9708]). •Valid as Gobioides peruanus (Steindachner 1880) -- (Allen & Robertson 1994:263 [ref. 22193], Bussing & López S. 1994:142 [ref. 23101], Hoese in Fischer et al. 1995:1134 [ref. 22829], Murdy 1998:128 [ref. 23380], Chirichigno F. & Vélez D. 1998:148 [ref. 24555], Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:660 [ref. 27061], Van Tassell 2011:144 [ref. 31732], Barriga S. 2014:119 [ref. 35745], Jiménez-Prado et al. 2015:363 [ref. 34894]). Current status: Valid as Gobioides peruanus (Steindachner 1880). Gobiidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Pacific coast from southern Mexico to Peru: Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama and Peru. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
