Holotype (unique): RMNH 4534. •Valid as Bathygobius petrophilus (Bleeker 1853) -- (Goren 1978:273 [ref. 8929], Akihito & Meguro 1980:226 [ref. 6920], Akihito in Masuda et al. 1984:273 [ref. 6441], Miller & Smith 1989:315 [ref. 25535], Kottelat et al. 1993:143 [ref. 23448], Nakabo 2000:1220 [ref. 25182] as peterophilus, Matsuura & Peristiwady in Matsuura & Peristiwady 2000:289 [ref. 27511], Miller & Stefanni 2001:152 [ref. 26034], Larson & Murdy 2001:3595 [ref. 26293], Nakabo 2002:1220 [ref. 26193] as peterophilus, Allen & Adrim 2003:57 [ref. 26830], Kottelat 2013:402 [ref. 32989], Miesen et al. 2016:93 [ref. 34492], Parenti 2021:104 [ref. 38603], Koreeda et al. 2022:27 [ref. 39102], Okamura et al. 2023:21 [ref. 40943]). Current status: Valid as Bathygobius petrophilus (Bleeker 1853). Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Indonesia east to Fiji, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Habitat: brackish, marine.
