Lectotype: BMNH 1890.9.23.246. Paralectotypes: BMNH 1853.7.21.3 (1), 1862.10.23.23 (2), 1864.1.1.7.27-28 (2), 1890.9.23.247-248 (3). Lectotype selected by Hardy 1983:36 [ref. 5341]. Original genus should have been spelled Tetraodon. •Valid as Torquigener pleurogramma (Regan 1903) -- (Hardy 1983:34 [ref. 5341], Hardy 1989:121 [ref. 17672], Kuiter 1993:419 [ref. 23929], Francis 1993:168 [ref. 25479], Gomon et al. 1994:912 [ref. 22532], Kuiter 1997:416 [ref. 25488], Johnson 1999:755 [ref. 25471], Ebert 2001:92 [ref. 25494], Hutchins 2001:48 [ref. 25847], Hoese et al. 2006:1928 [ref. 29099], Matsuura 2008:856 [ref. 30661], Hoschke et al. 2019:161 [ref. 36626]). Current status: Valid as Torquigener pleurogramma (Regan 1903). Tetraodontidae. Distribution: Southeastern Indian Ocean, southwestern Pacific: Western Australia, eastern Australia, Lord Howe Island. Habitat: brackish, marine.
