Syntypes: AMS I.19302-001 [ex. SMNS 2541] (1), SMNS 2541 (2). Type catalog: Fricke 1992:5 [ref. 20296], Fricke 2005:13 [ref. 29864] dated to 1880. Type information: Gon 1988:10 [ref. 31743] with a holotype and other specimens. Also appeared in Klunzinger 1880:345 [21 of separate], Pl. 3 (fig. 3) [ref. 2624]. •Valid as Vincentia punctata (Klunzinger 1879) -- (Paxton et al. 1989:559 [ref. 12442], Gomon et al. 1994:571 [ref. 22532], Hutchins 2001:32 [ref. 25847], Allen et al. 2006:1111 [ref. 29004], Allen & Gomon 2008:561 [ref. 30653], Mabuchi et al. 2014:196 [ref. 33426], Hoschke et al. 2019:156 [ref. 36626], Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:20 [ref. 36965]). Current status: Valid as Vincentia punctata (Klunzinger 1879). Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Southeastern Indian Ocean: Shark Bay (Western Australia) southward, east to Kangaroo Island (South Australia). Habitat: marine.
