See Kottelat 2013:763 [ref. 32887] for remarks under bilineatus Bloch 1756. •Synonym of Cynoglossus bilineatus (Lacepède 1802) -- (Menon 1977:36 [ref. 7071], Dor 1984:272 [ref. 29757], Lindberg & Fedorov 1993:223 [ref. 21500], Randall 1995:363 [ref. 22896], Munroe 2001:3897 [ref. 26314]). •Valid as Cynoglossus quadrilineatus (Bleeker 1851) -- (Goren & Dor 1994:72 [ref. 25356], Psomadakis et al. 2015:328 [ref. 34104], Voronina et al. 2016:404 [ref. 35064], Psomadakis et al. 2020:600 [ref. 37272], Taki et al. 2021:496 [ref. 39830], Munroe 2022:378 [ref. 40234], Fricke et al. 2023:16 [ref. 40708]). Current status: Valid as Cynoglossus quadrilineatus (Bleeker 1851). Cynoglossidae: Cynoglossinae. Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: East Africa, Madagascar and Persian Gulf east to Philippines, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Habitat: brackish, marine.
