Syntypes: whereabouts unknown. •Valid as Brachyamblyopus rubristriatus (Saville-Kent 1889) -- (Larson & Williams 1997:372 [ref. 23967], Johnson 1999:749 [ref. 25471]). •Valid as Caragobius rubristriatus (Saville-Kent 1889) -- (Larson & Murdy 2001:3593 [ref. 26293], Murdy & Shibukawa 2003:9 [ref. 27145], Hoese & Larson 2006:1634 [ref. 29097], Murdy 2011:116 [ref. 31729], Larson et al. 2013:193 [ref. 32988], Parenti 2021:65 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Valid as Caragobius rubristriatus (Saville-Kent 1889). Gobiidae: Amblyopinae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean: northern Western Australia and Northern Territory (Australia). Habitat: brackish, marine.
