Species later illustrated and described in more detail in Steindachner 1882:37, Pl. 7 (fig. 6) [ref. 14353]. •See Planquette et al. 1996:284 [ref. 22818]. •Valid as Hemigrammus schmardae (Steindachner 1882) -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:8 [ref. 9708], Taphorn 1992:227 [ref. 23654] as cf schmardae, Zarske & Géry 2002:31 [ref. 26553], Lima & Oyakawa in Reis et al. 2003:133 [ref. 27061], Zarske et al. 2006:23 [ref. 28749], Barriga Salazar 2014:107 [ref. 35745], Melo et al. 2016:132 [ref. 34701] as cf. schmardae, DoNascimiento et al. 2017:49 [ref. 35633], Albornoz-Garzón et al. 2019:938 [ref. 36872], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:18 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Hemigrammus schmardae (Steindachner 1882). Acestrorhamphidae: Pristellinae. Distribution: South America: Amazon, Negro and Orinoco River basins (Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
