Holotype: CAS 33806 [ex IU 13253a]. Paratypes: CAS 33807 [ex IU 13253] (9, now 8). Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:273 [ref. 29155]. Correct spelling of the adjective when in a neuter genus is spectabile. •Valid as Otocinclus spectabilis Eigenmann 1914 -- (Isbrücker 1980:84-85 [ref. 2303], Burgess 1989:439 [ref. 12860]). •Valid as Hypoptopoma spectabile (Eigenmann 1914) -- (Aquino & Schaefer 2010:38 [ref. 30875], Barriga Salazar 2014:112 [ref. 35745], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:76 [ref. 35633]). •Valid as Nannoptopoma spectabile (Eigenmann 1914) -- (Schaefer 1996:916 [ref. 22565] as spectabilis, Isbrücker 2001:30 [ref. 25653] as spectabilis, Isbrücker 2002:23 [ref. 27178], Schaefer in Reis et al. 2003:324 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:272 [ref. 29155], Delapieve et al. 2018:22 [ref. 35713], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:26 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Nannoptopoma spectabile (Eigenmann 1914). Loricariidae: Hypoptopomatinae. Distribution: South America: Amazon and Orinoco River basins (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
