Current status: Valid as Astyanax altior Hubbs 1936. Acestrorhamphidae: Acestrorhamphinae. Distribution: Southern North America: northwestern Yucatán Peninsula, Campeche and Yucatán states (Mexico) endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
