Paralectotypes: RMNH D1011 (1, stuffed), D1013 (1, dry), 2074 (1), 2079 (2). Lectotype selected by Boeseman 1947:132 [ref. 12876]. Paralectotypes are identified as Callionymus curvicornis Valenciennes 1837 by Fricke 1982:60 [ref. 5432], Fricke 1983:116 [ref. 8349], and Fricke 2002:17 [ref. 26547]. •Valid as Callionymus valenciennei Temminck & Schlegel 1845 -- (Lindberg & Krasyukova 1975:224 [ref. 7348], Fricke 1982:66 [ref. 5432], Fricke 1983:287 [ref. 8349], Nakabo et al. 1991:261 [ref. 20070], Fricke in Randall & Lim 2000:634 [ref. 25122], Fricke 2002:17 [ref. 26547], Fricke 2002:44 [ref. 26547]). •Valid as Repomucenus valenciennei (Temminck & Schlegel 1845) -- (Nakabo in Masuda et al. 1984:345 [ref. 6441], Lee & Kim 1993:17 [ref. 23164], Nakabo 2000:1137 [ref. 25182], Shimizu 2001:37 [ref. 25799], Nakabo 2002:1137 [ref. 26193], Youn 2002:390, 654 [ref. 26218], Iwatsubo & Motomura 2010:72 [ref. 31555]). Current status: Valid as Callionymus valenciennei Temminck & Schlegel 1845. Callionymidae. Distribution: Western North Pacific. Habitat: marine.
