Paratypes: (11) USNM 117507 [ex UMMZ 102124] (1). •Valid as Cichlasoma zebra Hubbs 1936 -- (Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:625 [ref. 27061] as incertae sedis in 'Cichlasoma'). •Valid as Mayaheros zebra (Hubbs 1936) -- (Říčan et al. 2016:27 [ref. 34357]). •Synonym of Mayaheros urophthalmus (Günther 1862) -- (Barrientos-Villalobos et al. 2018:276 [ref. 35933]). Current status: Synonym of Mayaheros urophthalmus (Günther 1862). Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Habitat: freshwater.
