shanensis, Danio (Brachydanio) Hora [S. L.] 1928:38, Fig. 1 [Records of the Indian Museum (Calcutta) v. 30 (pt 1); ref. 15856] Hsipaw, northern Shan States, Myanmar. Holotype: ZSI F10814/1. Paratypes: lost/not researched. Type catalog: Menon & Yazdani 1968:108 [ref. 20743]. Hora designated a "Type-specimen" which establishes a holotype (the species was based on more than one specimen); the holotype was designated lectotype by Fang 2000:21 [ref. 24479] but that is apparently unnecessary. See Das 2003:356 [ref. 27706] with date as 1929. •Synonym of Danio interruptus (Day 1870) [but wrongly as interrupta] -- (Chu 1981:150 [ref. 5248], Kuang in Chu & Chen 1989:15 [ref. 13584], Chen & Chu in Chen et al. 1998:24 [ref. 23878], Nguyen et al. 2010:66 [ref. 32043]). •Synonym of Squaliobarbus currivulus (Richardson 1846) -- (Yang & Hwang 1964:55 [ref. 13497], Barman 1991:60 [ref. 22192]). •Valid as Brachydanio shanensis (Hora 1928) -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:361 [ref. 20764], Doi 1997:4 [ref. 22832], Sen 2007:27 [ref. 29657]). •Valid as Danio shanensis Hora 1928 -- (Fang 1997:42 [ref. 22873], Fang 2000:18 [ref. 24479], Fang 2000:223 [ref. 25107] as cf. shanensis). •Valid as 'Inlecypris" shanensis (Hora 1928) -- (Kottelat 2013:113 [ref. 32989]). •Synonym of Devario interrupterus (Day 1870) -- (Zhang et al. 2016:49 [ref. 34477]), •Valid as Devario shanensis (Hora 1928) -- (Fang 2001:17 [ref. 25285], Fang et al. 2009:17 [ref. 29983], Fang & Kullander 2009:33 [ref. 30284], Kullander 2017:408 [ref. 35120]). Current status: Valid as Devario shanensis (Hora 1928). Danionidae: Danioninae. Distribution: Thanlwin basin, Myanmar and China. Habitat: freshwater.
