Paratypes or non-types: MCZ 32653 [ex AMNH] (1). Named in honor of Mrs. J. C. Melrose, the correct species epithet would be melroseae. •Synonym of Megalobrama macrops (Günther 1868) -- (Bănărescu 1970:134 [ref. 20609], Mai 1978:164 [ref. 13511] as mebrosei). •Synonym of Sinibrama affinis (Vaillant 1892) -- (Kottelat 2013:163 [ref. 32989] with question). •Valid as Sinibrama melrosei (Nichols & Pope 1927) -- (Yih & Wu 1964:111 [ref. 13499], Lu in Kuang et al. 1986:79 [ref. 26639], Chen in Chu & Chen 1989:53 [ref. 13584], Zheng et al. 1989:88 [ref. 21202], Lu in Pan et al. 1991:101 [ref. 23876], Zhu 1995:35 [ref. 25213], Luo & Chen in Chen et al. 1998:145 [ref. 23878], Kottelat 2001:41 [ref. 25482], Kottelat 2001:81 [ref. 25780], Zhang et al. 2016:63 [ref. 34477]). Current status: Valid as Sinibrama melrosei (Nichols & Pope 1927). Xenocyprididae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Hainan Island and southeast China. Habitat: freshwater.
