Paratypes: (1) BMAM 1779 (1). •Synonym of Xenocypris yunnanensis Nichols 1925, but a valid subspecies -- (Bănărescu 1970:399 [ref. 7718]). •Valid as Xenocypris fangi Tchang 1930 -- (Yang 1964:126 [ref. 13500], Li 1986:482 [ref. 6154], Ding 1994:159 [ref. 21531], Zhu 1995:43 [ref. 25213], Liu & He in Chen et al. 1998:216 [ref. 23878], Zhang et al. 2016:65 [ref. 34477], Zhang et al. 2019:197 [ref. 36699], Guo 2021:183 [ref. 38617]). Current status: Valid as Xenocypris fangi Tchang 1930. Xenocyprididae. Distribution: Yangtze River basin, China. Habitat: freshwater.
