prespensis, Alburnus bipunctatus var. Karaman [S.] 1924:54 [Pisces Macedoniae; ref. 15902] Lake Prespa and its tributaries, Republic of Macedonia. No types known. Syntypes: (several) IEBMT. •Synonym of Alburnoides bipunctatus (Bloch 1782), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Lelek 1987:147 [ref. 22962]). •Synonym of Alburnoides bipunctatus (Bloch 1782) -- (Kottelat 1997:44 [ref. 22952]). •Valid as Alburnoides prespensis (Karaman 1924) -- (Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:160 [ref. 29996], Coad & Bogutskaya 2009:67 [ref. 30264], Bogutskaya et al. 2010:449 [ref. 31109], Perea et al. 2010:15 [ref. 31802], Turan et al. 2014:101 [ref. 33119], Barbieri et al. 2015:42 [ref. 35029], Jouladeh-Roudbar et al. 2016:176 [ref. 34375], Bektaş et al. 2019:[9] [ref. 36964], Shumka et al. 2023:36 [ref. 40747]). Current status: Valid as Alburnoides prespensis (Karaman 1924). Leuciscidae: Leuciscinae. Distribution: Southeastern Europe: Lake Prespa and Shkumbin, Seman, Vjosa/Aoos, Dukati and Borshi River drainages (Greece, Macedonia and Albania). Habitat: freshwater.
