randi, Craterocephalus Nichols [J. T.] & Raven [H. C.] 1934:3, Fig. 3 [American Museum Novitates No. 755; ref. 16442] Kubuna, Kubuna River, not far northwest of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, elevation 100 meters. Holotype: AMNH 12477. Paratypes: AMNH 12525 (4). •Valid as Craterocephalus randi Nichols & Raven 1934 -- (Roberts 1978:50 [ref. 8886], Allen 1991:104 [ref. 21090], Crowley et al. 1991:44 [ref. 16645], Crowley & Ivantsoff 1992:278 [ref. 20015], Allen et al. 2000:71 [ref. 27467], Allen et al. 2008:86 [ref. 30265]). •Synonym of Craterocephalus stercumuscarum (Günther 1867), but a valid subspecies randi -- (Ivantsoff & Allen 2011:50 [ref. 31135]). Current status: Valid as Craterocephalus randi Nichols & Raven 1934. Atherinidae: Craterocephalinae. Distribution: Central-southern New Guinea: Papua Province, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. Habitat: freshwater.
