Current status: Valid as Tenellus leporhinus (Eigenmann 1912). Doradidae: Doradinae. Distribution: Orinoco, Branco and Essequibo River basins, rio Trombetas and Amazonas tributaries draining Brazilian Shield: Brazil, Colombia, Guyana and Venezuela. Habitat: freshwater.
