Holotype (unique): whereabouts unknown. Leptocephalus is a catch-all name for larval eels. •Valid as Leptocephalus congroides D'Ancona 1928 -- (Dor 1984:34 [ref. 29757], Goren & Dor 1994:8 [ref. 25356]). •Possibly a species of Heteroconger -- (Castle 1997:10 [ref. 22878]). •Valid as Heteroconger congroides (D'Ancona 1928) -- (Golani & Fricke 2018:25 [ref. 36273]). Current status: Uncertain as Heteroconger congroides (D'Ancona 1928). Congridae: Heterocongrinae. Distribution: Southern Red Sea, northwestern Indian Ocean: Gulf of Aden. Habitat: marine.
