Subspecific name proposed for specimen described and figured by McCulloch 1915:168, Pl. 34 (fig. 1) [ref. 2941]. •Valid as Torquigener vicinus Whitley 1930 -- (Hardy 1983:37 [ref. 5341], Hardy 1989:122 [ref. 17672], Hutchins 2001:48 [ref. 25847], Hoese et al. 2006:1929 [ref. 29099], Hoschke et al. 2019:161 [ref. 36626]). Current status: Valid as Torquigener vicinus Whitley 1930. Tetraodontidae. Distribution: Southeastern Indian Ocean: Western Australia endemic. Habitat: marine.
