ocellifer, Anabas muriei Nichols [J. T.] 1928:3, Fig. 3 [American Museum Novitates No. 309; ref. 15863] Ankoro, junction of Lualaba and Luvua rivers, Katanga Province, Democratic Republic of Congo. Holotype: AMNH 9253. Paratypes: AMNH 9259 (4). •Synonym of Ctenopoma muriei (Boulenger 1906), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Gosse 1986:409 [ref. 6194]). •Valid as Microctenopoma ocellifer (Nichols 1928) -- (Norris 1995:358, 372 [ref. 21948], Kullander & Roberts 2012:367 [ref. 31751]). Current status: Valid as Microctenopoma ocellifer (Nichols 1928). Anabantidae. Distribution: Africa. Habitat: freshwater.
