Neotype designated by Sabaj-Pérez & Birindelli 2008:199 [ref. 29739]. •Valid as Doras carinatus (Linnaeus 1766) -- (Burgess 1989:223 [ref. 12860], Le Bail et al. 2000:42 [ref. 24549], Sabaj & Ferraris in Reis et al. 2003:460 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:171 [ref. 29155], Sabaj Pérez & Birindelli 2008:197 [ref. 29739], Birindelli 2014:538 [ref. 33501], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:[22] [ref. 35679], Taphorn et al. 2022:46 [ref. 41297]). Current status: Valid as Doras carinatus (Linnaeus 1766). Doradidae: Doradinae. Distribution: South America: Essequibo River basin and other coastal drainages to mouth of Amazon River (Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
