Paratypes: AMNH 8385 (1, missing since 1989). •Valid as Philypnus chalmersi Nichols & Pope 1927 -- (Wu & Ni in Kuang et al. 1986:262 [ref. 26639], Zheng 1989:341 [ref. 21202], Wu in Pan et al. 1991:425 [ref. 23876], Zhu 1995:176 [ref. 25213], Kottelat 2001:61 [ref. 25482], Iwata 2011:71 [ref. 31725] but genus uncertain, Zhang et al. 2016:199 [ref. 34477]). •Valid as Sineleotris chalmersi (Nichols & Pope 1927) -- (Chen et al. 2002:233 [ref. 26719], Chen & Kottelat 2004:43 [ref. 28286], Kottelat 2013:388 [ref. 32989]). •Valid as Microdous chalmersi (Nichols & Pope 1927) -- (Li et al. 2018:8 [ref. 35731], Hu et al. 2023:11 [ref. 40052]). Current status: Valid as Microdous chalmersi (Nichols & Pope 1927). Odontobutidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Hainan Island, Guangdong and Guangxi, southern China to northern Vietnam. Habitat: freshwater.
