Holotype (unique): SAM 11993. Also appeared as new in Barnard 1927:995, Pl. 37 (fig. 1) [ref. 194]. •Synonym of Chatrabus melanurus (Barnard 1927) -- (Hutchins 1986:359 [ref. 5673]). •Valid as Chatrabus damaranus (Barnard 1927) -- (Roux 1990:470 [ref. 15312], Collette et al. 2006:937 [ref. 28910], Greenfield et al. 2008:681 [ref. 30046], Collette & Greenfield 2016:2040 [ref. 34595]). Current status: Valid as Chatrabus damaranus (Barnard 1927). Batrachoididae: Halophryninae. Distribution: Southeastern Atlantic and southwestern Indian Ocean: Angola to South Africa. Habitat: marine.
