Type catalog: Bertin & Estève 1950:76 [ref. 19575], Ferraris 2007:67 [ref. 29155]. •Valid as Astroblepus sabalo (Valenciennes 1840) -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:18 [ref. 9708], Burgess 1989:449 [ref. 12860], Schaefer in Reis et al. 2003:315 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:67 [ref. 29155], Ardia Rodríguez 2014:3 [ref. 33721], Chuctaya et al. 2022:35 [ref. 42137]). Current status: Valid as Astroblepus sabalo (Valenciennes 1840). Astroblepidae. Distribution: South America: upper Ucayali River basin (Peru) endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
