cheilopogon, Ophisurus Bleeker [P.] 1860:59 [Acta Societatis Regiae Scientiarum Indo-Neêrlandicae v. 8 (art. 7); ref. 379] Badjoa, Sulawesi, Indonesia. Holotype (unique): whereabouts unknown. Bleeker specimens: BMNH 1867.11.28.317 (1) Badjoa. The spelling chilopogon in Bleeker 1864:42 [ref. 4860] is an unjustified emendation. •Valid as Cirrhimuraena cheilopogon (Bleeker 1860) -- (McCosker 1977:75 [ref. 6836], Smith & McCosker 1999:1668 [ref. 24715]). Current status: Valid as Cirrhimuraena cheilopogon (Bleeker 1860). Ophichthidae: Ophichthinae. Distribution: Papua New Guinea. Habitat: marine.
